Summertime

I hope this blog post finds you enjoying the last few weeks into your foray as a homeschool teacher. I am sure it wasn’t all lollipops and roses, but I can assure you, homeschool, when done outside of a pandemic, is a rich and rewarding educational experience for you and your children.

Most kids (and parents) need a serious break this summer and I highly recommend reading as a way to decompress. Reading is the best and it’s also a sneaky way to keep your kids engaged and off the screens.

For those kids that need a little reading incentive (not everyone is enthusiastic about books) or for those kids that love a good challenge, check these out:

Goodreads has a fun beginner and expert level challenge. This list seems most appropriate for upper middle schoolers, high schoolers and adults.

Scholastic is running a Summer Read-A-Palooza . As you read, you help the United Way get books to kids in need. According to the website, “For 2020, we are excited to share a brand new kids experience in Scholastic Home Base, a free digital destination which offers full books, live events, and games in a safe community for readers! Kids will be encouraged to track their reading streaks to earn rewards and unlock book donations, with the goal of donating 100,000 books by July!”

Summer Reading Bingo is always a fave.

If you are in need of more academic options, I will be offering summer tutoring as well as classes, both in person and via distance learning. If you are interested, send me an email 🙂

Lastly, for those of you looking to the fall and considering homeschool, please free to contact me. I am more than happy to offer guidance and assistance as you make your decision. Half, if not three-fourths of our kids will be homeschooled for the upcoming school year, and I would love to have you come along for the ride.

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing summer.
