It’s Been A Year

It has been over a year since I have posted. Yikes! Even though I was absent in sharing my life, the kids and I had a great school year. Despite the uncertainty which extended into 2021 and even 2022, homeschool was a constant in our lives.

I am continually grateful for the path we have taken and excited as we start our third year homeschooling.

I love the first day of school. As a kid, a teacher, and a mother, the new school year is filled with hope and even better, new books.

So what are we reading???

Sharing new and old stories with my kids is one of the best parts of homeschool. This year I want to focus more on reading and discussing stories together.

I talk a lot about the books I read growing up, which has inspired Elsa to start the original Babysitter’s Club series. I mean, Claudia Kishi’s cover outfits were always the best! Together we will read Aleutian Sparrows by Karen Hesse, who is one of our favorite authors.

Soren wants to finish up the Hatchet series and I am sure he will re-read Captain Underpants.

As a read aloud, we chose to start with Charlotte’s Web. Surprisingly, neither of my kids have read this book…what??

Lastly, my other goal for homeschool is to do more hands on science. I love science, but I don’t like prepping for all the experiments. I also hate the mess. I am determined to be the fun mom this year and to create more time for exploration.

Happy First Day of School!
